Raiders News · 2019-20 Tryout Requirements

Tryouts for the Fall 2019 season are just around the corner!
Per Prince William County School policy, in order to tryout for a sport, you MUST have both a current sports physical (dated on or after 5/1/2019) and current concussion training. Details on both of these requirements are below…

A copy of the high school sports physical form can be found online at HERE.  Please make sure that the form is filled out completely including all required signatures on all pages, and that page 3 is signed and stamped by your doctor’s office. All completed sports physicals MUST be turned in to the Activities Office or to Ms. Kocik. We are located on the first floor of the building near the cafeteria. In the event that our office is closed, you may slide paperwork under the office door.

High school students who are entering 9th grade and trying out for a sport for their first time in high school, or students who are new to Prince William County Public schools must attend a face-to-face concussion training WITH THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN at one of the county’s high schools. Concussion training is required each year. Once a face-to-face high school concussion training has been attended, subsequent years concussion training may be completed online.
More information on concussion training can be found at Prince William County Schools – Concussion Information and a full list of the 2019-20 Concussion Training dates can be found HERE.  Please plan to arrive a few minutes early for concussion training, as the meetings start promptly at 7:00pm and late entry is not permitted. Concussion training is offered on other dates at other high schools in the county and students may attend face-to-face concussion training at any school in the county. However, concussion training MUST be completed before a student tries out for sports.

Academic Eligibility must be met by all student athletes. Details on all PWCS student athlete eligibility requirements can be found online HERE.
